Somehow, a country that is deeply divided where they have one-party rule seems like a powder keg.

Funny thing is marginalized number of scientists here in the west and common sense should have prevailed when they said natural immunity is better and that covid will become a norm just like flu. But those folks got ridiculed because that was not the consensus. Every single person I have known who got hit badly on first wave subsequent covid infections were a cake walk for them

The Chinese has an old saying "Paper can't wrap fire".  When will CCP finally realize that they can't contain the inconvenient truths and just let the facts be?  It's called good governance.  And it's ideology free.

I really don’t get it either. It’s like they planned zero Covid for the rest of time bc they thought their ability to do zero Covid was endless. And then they found out it wasn’t, so they were just like “oops, I guess we gotta let it rip!”

I'm still baffled that the CCP didn't acquire the best vaccines available and force all their citizens to get them as a condition for reopening or going to public places. They instead spent years locking people down trying to snuff out infections. A large vaccination campaign seems a lot simpler then the road they went down. Now millions are likely to die, for what? Pride and political posturing? Just senseless.
