“From Zero Covid to Total Covid in just one day.
Photos from Beijing this week as the Chinese capital goes through an uncontrolled outbreak that has now infected large part of the population.
Very few people around: most of the people stay home, either sick or scared to get infected. Not uncommon to see people wearing all sorts of PPE. Queues at pharmacies and fever clinics. Delivery men once again being of vital importance for the functioning of the city, bringing everything to everyone.
PCR testing system totally collapsed, testing booths mostly closed and results not even coming out for the few who still dare to do them. As proof of negativity is still required to get into some places (eg hospitals) some have started to accept rapid antigen tests, at most hospitals antigen kits are sold at the gate for 39¥.
As more people recover from the illness and go back to normal life, the city will slowly be repopulated. It will take some time, but hopefully this time will be the last.”
